Safety planning information
A safety plan is a personal, practical plan for staying as safe as you can, whether you are in a relationship, planning to leave, or have left. Things people often think through:
- A safe way to contact help, and a safe place to make the call.
- Important documents and where they are kept.
- A trusted person who knows what is happening.
- Money, transportation and a place to go.
- Digital safety: passwords, location sharing, shared accounts.
The hotline offers a free, personalized planning tool at thehotline.org. An advocate can walk through it with you.
